Burlington High School Cheerleading

Each year there are 9 Cheerleading Squads at Burlington High School and Cheerleading opportunities at each of the Middle and Elemenary Schools.

The fall High School squads include: Varsity Football, Sophomore Football, Freshman Football, and the Competition Squad.

The winter squads include: Varsity Boys Basketball, Varsity Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Sophomore Basketball and Freshman Basketball.

The Fall Cheerleaders are coached by Cherie Reid (27 years as BHS Cheer Coach)

The Winter Cheerleaders are coached by Lindsey Johnston (2nd Year Coach)

Through Cheerleading, students learn responsibility, teamwork, leadership skills, and the importance of dedication.  They make lasting friendships, learn organizational skills, discipline, and good sportsmanship.  Cheerleaders are encouraged to be good role models, demonstrate good citizenship, and maintain high academic standards.  Cheerleading is more than talent and athletic ability.  It is being good leaders on and off the field, in the classroom, and in the community.  As Cheerleaders, our job is to cheer for and support our teams, while encouraging good sportsmanship and school spirit.  Through the years Cheerleading Competitions have become more and more popular. Competitions are a fun and rewarding experience.  It gives Cheerleaders a chance to really work as a team, perfecting a routine and having the opportunity to compete against other teams. It is a great learning experience.

If you have intertest in Cheerleading, please contact the B.H.S. Athletic Office for more information.
