BCSD To Return To 100% In Person Learning February 8
WRITTEN BY Beth Shurtleff ON January 29, 2021

The Burlington School Board voted on January 29 to return to 100% in person learning beginning February 8, 2021.  The Burlington Community School District will be discontinuing our hybrid schedule and all students will attend school each day, Monday through Friday, starting February 8.  This aligns with the new law signed by Governor Reynolds that requires that Iowa Schools offer 100% in person learning.  More details about revised school calendars and start/end times will be shared early next week as we prepare to return to a regular, 5 day per week, schedule.

We will continue to practice mitigation strategies.  Having all students attending in person means that social distancing will not be possible in most spaces.  Masks will be required throughout the day and we will do our best to maintain social distancing during lunch.  We will continue to encourage frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizer.  We ask that all staff and students continue to self monitor their health and stay home if they are experiencing COVID symptoms.

We are able to continue offering our Virtual School Option for the remainder of the school year.  Students enrolled in the Virtual School Option, who have not been attending school in person this year, may continue attending completely virtually.  Others who are interested in this option should review the Virtual School Option Handbook, available on our Return to Learn webpage, and contact their school Principal by noon on February 3 for additional information.
